Sarasota County, the county of the arts and fine dining, has a chock full of things to do in April whether you are on spring break or visiting for Passover or Easter. The cities in the area are the perfect vacation places for sightseeing, history buffs, theater, water sports, foodies, and much more. The city of Sarasota, with award-winning restaurants, was named one of the ‘Best Food Cities in the US by Conde Nest Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards in 2016 and many restaurants are recipients of the James Beard Award.
There’s golfing, fishing, boating, beaching, kayaking, tennis, touring, food, food and more food.
For some family fun while vacationing take our ‘Shark’s Teeth & More Tour’ in Venice and while you are in Venice, take advantage of the Venice Sharks Tooth Fest April 12-14th . We have many tours where you can check out some of our fabulous restaurants and history too. Another fun tour is the ‘Ghosts & Gruesomes Walking Tour’ in downtown Sarasota, where before or after the tour you can also sample some of Sarasota’s best downtown restaurants. Many of the downtown restaurants have great happy hours too.
The Sandbar Restaurant in Anna Maria Island is hosting their 33rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bonnet Contest on April 20th . You could enter the bonnet contest, and then take our ‘Anna Maria Island Beach Life Food Tour’ to enjoy some of the local restaurants and hear historical facts about the island. Another opportunity to visit Anna Maria Island is on April 13th for the “Beach’N Food Truck Festival” at Coquina Beach.
On Sundays you can catch the free Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team at the Ken Thompson Parkway. Then head over to St. Armands and check out some great restaurants for lunch or dinner. If you are here for Easter Sunday, there are Easter Sunday Sunrise Services. One is downtown Sarasota at Sarasota’s Bayfront Park from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and another is at the Lido Beach Pavilion from 6:30-7:30 a.m. The Lido Beach Resort next to the Pavilion has a great Easter Sunday Brunch.
